Our small farm is located in the beautiful rural Applegate valley in southern Oregon. At just under 2 acres our little bit of land is small, but we use every inch of it to raise our garden, an orchard, our goats, and of course, we raised our three beautiful daughters here too!. Our life with goats began in 1987 when our eldest daughter proudly announced she had 'won' a pygmy goat in a 4H raffle! "What's a pygmy goat?" I asked. I knew I wanted a goat so we could have fresh milk and make cheese, but our jump into goats began more quickly than I imagined. "Emmett," a little wether, came home on Thanksgiving day and we promptly realized he needed a friend. Soon, "Hollie" a Nubian dairy goat came home too. Several years of raising our children, 4H activities, and numerous goats later our children were graduating from High School and moving onto college. We sort of 'got out of goats' for awhile, but then I decided to start a herd of my own and began a search for a registered Nubian and joined ADGA. The year was 1997. We found a beautiful small brown doe when a local breeder decided to sell off all her Nubians and keep her Saanens.
Wynneshire La Questa's Chloe was her last doe left. Chloe was special. She had foundered young and had chronic laminitis. She had also aborted her first freshening and from then on generally threw one single large kid with difficulty. All of this was told to me up front, but Chloe was sweet, gentle, a quiet Nubian, and had lovely conformation in her small body. Her udder was nice and tight and she milked out so easy! I was willing to take a chance on her and bought her on the spot. Chloe became the foundation doe of our herd. You can find out more about Chloe and her daughters, Beulah Belle and Bryn Sierra in the Reference section.
When you choose to buy a Lehnhardt's Nubian you will always know that they have been very well cared for. We keep our herd small so that we can give each and every doe, her kids and our breeding bucks the daily care and handling that makes them produce to their best ability! We have several goals for our Nubian herd that we would like to pass on to all who buy our lovely animals:
Animals that have correct conformation and are beautiful to look at too;
Average to Above Average to Superior milking production;
Long & healthy & productive lives.
With those three goals in mind we manage our Nubians in the following way:

CAE: Prevention and Testing
In the past we raised kids on heat-treated colostrum and pasteurized milk; with only a few selected does raising their own kids. Now that we have had several generations of CAE-Negative does, we have chosen to bottle raise all kids on fresh colostrum and fresh milk. The health and growth of the kids is even more improved.
All adult does and bucks are tested for CAE on an annual basis.
Young stock retained for the herd are tested just before breeding season.

You can view current CAE status of each animal from our herd.

DHIR: Milk Test
We went on group test in 2002. Then took a break from breeding our goats for a few years due to my health issues. Back on milk test in 2006 and have continued each year since then.
Each does completed lactation is listed on the doe page.

Linear Appraisal:
We began using this all important ADGA program in 2001 and again in 2002. We now participate annually in the Linear Appraisal program and garnered a wealth of information on our individual does, bucks and young stock that proves invaluable in making breeding choices each year. The overall improvement we are now seeing in our herd is due a great deal to the Linear Appraisal program and using the resulting information judiciously in our breeding program. We can't say enough about the value of Linear Appraisal! If you are in our area and would like to come and watch our herd being appraised, we welcome you to contact us as we host a LA session each year.

ADGA Sanctioned Shows:
Who doesn't love to show! We sure do! We attend a few shows annually and are always looking to expand to more shows in the future.

General Health issues:
We use preventive immunization, supplementation of Selenium and Copper, herbal supplementation and proper sanitation procedures to insure the health of our animals. When you buy a Nubian from our farm you are provided with a copy of their complete health records as well as their registration papers.

We welcome any and all questions about our farm, our animals, and our management. We also invite you to arrange to visit our farm when you are in our area. Please contact us:
